- Get 3/4cup rice
- Take 1/2 Cup Tur Dal
- Prepare 1 large Onion

- Take 4.5 Cups water
- Take 1 tablespoon oil
- Take 1 tablespoon ghee

- Make ready 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- Make ready 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- Prepare 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- Make ready 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
- Take 2 teaspoon coriander powder
- Take 2 teaspoon sambar masala
- Get 2 tablespoon tamarind water
- Take 1 tablespoon jaggery
Steps to make One Pot Sambar Rice:
- Wash and soak dal and rice together for 30 mins
- In a pressure cooker, heat oil and ghee, put mustard seeds, once it splutters add Cumin seeds and hing.
- Add chopped green chillies, onions and curry leaves let onion cook till light golden
- Now add ginger garlic paste or crush fresh ginger garlic. Blend tomatoes in blender and add puree
- Once the oil separates add all the dry spices, Now add water and salt, let the water boil.
- Add tamarind water and jaggery, now add soaked rice and dal. Cook for 2 whistles on high flame and cook on low flame for 5 mins
- Switch off flame and let the pressure release on its own
- Once done, Serve with papad, chips or achar.
- Water quantity can be reduced if you want thick consistency
