- Get 100 gms Tamarind
- Take 15 red chilies, 50 ml ginjelly oil, 3ts salt
- Take 50 gms Kadalai parupu, urad dal, mustard, Perungayam powder,
- Take 2 ts fenugreek seeds, curry leaves and ginger pieces
Steps to make Pulikaichal/Puliyotharai mix -Kumbakonam Iyengar special:
- First soak the Tamarind for 20 minutes. Then squeeze and filter the thick tamarind water.
- In a pan add fenugreek seeds and 8 chilies in a dry pan. In a mixer grinder add this and make it into fine powder, along with salt.
- Then in another big pan add oil, allow mustard to crack and add all other ingredients and fry it. Then add the filtered thick tamarind water.
- Allow to cook for 20-30 minutes, It will become as a thick paste.
- Can be stored in a container for 10-15 days without keeping it in a fridge.
- Pulikaichal is ready to taste. Add to the white rice and prepare Puliyotharai.
